ATTENTION: Donations and Fosters needed for urgent situation!!!! A shelter has asked us to help them by taking many of 180 dogs from a puppymill bust in TN. We will take 10 - 15 a week as their vets release them depending on the number of fosters and how quick they are adopted. We will get the first of them this Saturday! Most are small breeds under 15 pounds. Some of these are healthy but many have medical problems! Some of the pictures are posted on the site already. The puppymiller shaved them down when they found out by the police that the shelter was coming. Many need medical care sure as mammary tumor removal, eye removal, have eye ulcers from hair matted over eyes, teeth removed, dentals and of course traditional vetting such as spay, neuter, vaccines, heartworm test , deworm etc. We can always use wire kennels for fosters! Kimber's Kritters, Dog Rescue & Rehab
Who We Are
Kimber's Kritters is a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) that is truly No-Kill Animal Rescue with large goals. We receive no government grants nor corporate sponsorships. We rely adoption fee's and donations to pay the medical bills and take care of the dogs in our foster parent's care. The shelters say we take the "bottom of the barrell" as we truly take the dogs that no one has adopted, and no rescue speaks up for. We rescued exotics for years and then started rescuing dogs after taking in some puppymill dogs back in 2000 from a very bad mill in TN. We mainly take in mixes, medically needy, elderly and Pit's. We used to go to a shelter and say we'll take this or that one. We felt as if we were playing God so told the shelters let me know when they have no other way! They end up being the best though! We are shelterless and rely on fosters to help save dogs being put to sleep by housing them. We are located in Shelbyville, TN, but are in Nashville several times a week due to work and homeschooling. Our main mission is to help the shelter dogs that can't help themselves that are about to be put to sleep. When no one else wants the dogs and the shelters are full they call us prior to putting them to sleep. We get dogs from very high kill shelters. We take dogs from the general public space permitting but shelters are our priority!. We totally depend on are volunteers & fosters as there are No paid employee's. We need YOU to foster by opening your home to a dog we've saved, quarantined and that is ready for YOUR love and help to find his/her fairy tale home!! You get a tax write off for the gas etc. We furnish the food,medical, crate, toys..you furnish the house, love and safe environment. YOU are the most IMPORTANT aspect of THIS rescue!
Future Plans & Goals
Our dream is to build a rescue/sanctuary in Tennessee preferably on the outskirts of Nashville. We will take dogs from shelters that are being put to sleep. We also helped one of the first 501(c)(3)'s in the south with cruelty and would be able to do this more. We're needing acreage in Tennessee preferably in Joelton, Whites Creek, Wilson, Smith or Dekalb County. We have the knowledge to have the center but not the funds! If you can help with fundraising, grantwriting,land etc please contact us...... "Together we can make a difference for the animals" We are doing the same thing in SC in a city where this is no shelter. We hope to raise funds to build a facility that will be a huge rescue, rehab, sanctuary and education center in SC also.

Kimber's Kritters Featured Pet
Meet Daisy! She is a 6+ year old female Pit Bull that has a sad story:-( She was surrendered to a local animal control with her two 5 week old puppies. She would have had more pups but didn't due to her poor health. The pups were tiny for their age but very healthy! Her puppies came to us about two weeks ago 03-1-2008 and they got adopted out. As for Daisy, she just came to us last week. Unfortunately, we think the past owners filed down her teeth to possibly make her a bait dog. She never was fought thank goodness. She loves everyone! She also is positive for Heartworms. The vet put her on antibiotics for 30 days prior to Heartworm treatment. If you would like to donate toward her large vet bills it is tax deductible and greatly appreciated! She is absolutely precious and lovable as can be. She is happiest in your lap! She loves traveling in the car! She will eventually be up for adoption but it will be awhile! Thank you for any help no matter how small or large :)

Pets For Adoption at Kimber's Kritters
We have many great pets for adoption! Please check out our pets for adoption by clicking the link below. The petfinder site is not always up to date as we dont have enough volunteers to edit it. So if you are coming to see a pet at adoption day please call first to make sure he/she has not been adopted yet. If you don't see a pet that you like please contact us to see if we have one or not. Also we can always put you on the waiting list so when that kind of pet come in you we can call you.
When you adopt a pet from Kimber's Kritters you :
1. Email for an Adoption application/contract and fill it out
2. If you rent we will have to make sure its okay for your to adopt with your landlord.
3.If approved for your new pet we will do a home check at some point of you adopting the pet! We sometimes do it before and sometimes after:)
The adoption fee's vary on each dog.
As we set the adoption fee at what we have in the dog.
Cat Adoptions
We do not rescue cats as we are allergic to them :-(
We highly recommend The Privileged Pet cat adoption agency! Here is a link to the adoptable cats at the rescue. There is a small adoption fee, as she gets cats from high kill shelters where their time is up. Please contact them for more information!
If are interested in surrendering a pet please contact us (scroll up to "Contact us" for our info). We do not accept all animals as we do not have enough fosters :-)...
If your pet is accepted in to Kimber's Kritters adoption program you will have to :
1.) Fill out a surrender form.
2.) You will also fill out a form saying what the pet(s) do & dont like.
3.) If you have any medical records we would like to get those.
4.)If you can make a donation toward the pets care that would be great. If not, we still take the pet space permitting. Our main priorty is shelter dogs that can't help themselves.
When you surrender a pet to Kimber's Kritters you are reliqishing all rights to your pet.
